Dr Philip Tan is a registered specialist prosthodontist in Melbourne. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Melbourne before embarking on specialist prosthodontic training at the University of Iowa. Philip returned to Melbourne in 2006 and has since practiced from his clinics in Cheltenham and Mornington.
Philip is a consultant prosthodontist at the Royal Children’s Hospital where he provides guidance and treatment for children with a variety of congenital dental disorders. His other roles have included being a reviewer for various dental journals, a reviewer for the Dental Board of Australia and a prosthodontic post-graduate student examiner for the University of Melbourne.
Philip is a passionate exponent of digital dentistry and lectures throughout Australia and internationally on the topic. His expertise and attention to detail is well recognised throughout the international dental community, with multinational dental manufacturers seeking his knowledge to help shape the future of prosthodontics around the globe. Philip is always willing to share his experience and receives much gratification from being part of the changing face of our dental environment.
Philip enjoys providing all aspects of prosthodontic care and particularly relishes the opportunity to support his patients on their journey to good oral health. He enjoys time on his road bike and is often seen riding to and from work. Philip and his wife Gina are raising three young boys so life away from the practice is busy and any spare time is spent with family. He enjoys good food and has been known to make an excellent Asian curry.
